CIC Data Base Inquiry
Reference No. 114
1995-2001 Toyota Tacoma (Standard Cab)
R&R Cab Corner (rear of door)
Date of Request: May 2000 to Motor and Mitchell; May 2001 to ADP
Date Posted: May 5, 2001
Updated: July 16, 2001 (Motor response has been updated or clarified from previous entry.)

CIC Reference No. 114
Data Providers: Mitchell International, ADP Claims Solutions Group, Motor Information Services/CCC Information Systems
Original Time Allowance: 7.0
Original Labor Note:
none

Issue:
  1. Time allowance not realistic.
  2. Labor text note inaccurate Labor note does not specify that the inner lock pillar must be replaced (or removed) in conjunction with the replacement of the outer cab corner. The outer replacement part cannot be sectioned as was done in previous truck models. The replacement part includes a "sliding seat belt" mechanism that prevents sectioning. The operation is a "full panel" replacement and not a section replacement.
Response:
  • Motor/CCC –The OEM information indicates that the part number for the reinforcement and the year coverage are accurate as listed in the database. The R&R time for the side panel was reevaluated and raised. Std cab to 9.5 Extd cab to 11.0 "After bed is removed". An overlap operation was added to the back panel "w/side panel off deduct 2.5"
  • ADP –"Per the Toyota recommended replacement procedures, the outer cab corner can be replaced without replacing the inner lock pillar or the inner cab corner. Additional information was confirmed by two local, professional body shops. No changes required at this time. Future time study to be conducted."
  • Mitchell–Added 3.0 hrs to the time allowance. Mitchell's "labor text note" now explains 10.0 hr time allowance as such: "Time is to Replace Inner & Outer Panels as an assembly."
Results/Change:
  • Mitchell– Improvement by adding 3.0 hours, but the 10.0 time allowance may not reflect the actual time required in a real world working environment.
  • Motor–Will offer results of time study when completed.
Mitchell November 2000 Added 3.0 hrs to the time allowance. Mitchell's "labor text note" now explains 10.0 hr time allowance as such: "Time is to Replace Inner & Outer Panels as an assembly."
Motor July 16, 2001 The OEM information indicates that the part number for the reinforcement and the year coverage are accurate as listed in the database. The R&R time for the side panel was reevaluated and raised Std cab to 9.5 Extd cab to 11.0 "After bed is removed". An overlap operation was added to the back panel "w/side panel off deduct 2.5"
ADP May 15, 2001 Toyota states that the outer cab corner can be replaced without replacing the inner lock pillar or inner cab corner. No changes at this time, but will be conducting time study in the future.
