Issue:
  1. Mitchell:
    Time allowance does not take into consideration the removal of the entire dash assembly.
  2. Mitchell and ADP:
    Not listed (no part or part number) is the air bag retainer bracket (steel plate) that is damaged when air bag deploys. This bracket also retains the dash assembly to vehicle and is not serviced with the replacement dash assembly.
  3. Mitchell and ADP:
    No labor text note stating what parts require replacement when air bag is deployed.
Suggestion:
  1. Mitchell and ADP–Increase time allowance equal to Motor.
  2. Mitchell and ADP–Add labor text note informing estimator what parts require replacement in conjunction with air bag.
  3. Mitchell and ADP–List the air bag mounting bracket, rear of air bag.
Response:
  • ADP – (May 15, 2001) Data base specifies the replacement of mounting bracket and includes dash replacement time
  • Mitchell–(May 7, 2001) Mitchell said it will increase the passenger air bag time on the 1998-01 LH bodies to 5.2 hrs with a note saying it includes instrument panel R&I.
Results/Change:
Mitchell May 7, 2001 Mitchell will increase the passenger air bag time on the 1998-01 LH bodies to 5.2 hrs with a note saying it includes instrument panel R&I.
Motor May 2001 Already lists the reinforcement plate in the instrument panel group; time is sufficient.
ADP May 12, 2001 No change necessary in data base
