TASK FORCE |

Mission Statement | We
are forming the Environmental Task Force, under the auspices of the
Legislative Committee, to address the activities by the federal EPA
and several California air pollution regulating agencies. Our industry needs to bridge the agency interfacing activities to open up a bigger channel of communication so that the interests of all the different industry segments are defined and properly represented. The government agencies are soliciting a higher degree of input and feedback than they have been getting so far. The rules changes that are being discussed are going beyond the past rules in scope that covered just VOC content reductions in paint products. The agencies are looking at other aspects of the collision repair industry. Looking at what’s different from the last major activity by the old Environmental Committee in the early ‘90s, we think there are some new segments of the industry that will be affected this time around. We are planning to give an overview at the September CIC meeting in San Francisco. We are creating a venue to bring the EPA and industry people together to richen the input and comment process. In order to streamline the communication of the findings and to create awareness of this growing and important issue, this Task Force web page is being created here on ciclink.com. It will also carry the public minutes of the Task Force, as well as information of general interest. This, along with the next issue of this Email to the groups that have expressed interest in being involved and informed, will be updated weekly or as appropriate. Any questions or comments can be directed to me at the following: Lester W.
